Ferrari 360

I’ve been starting to play with off-camera flash photography lately. Since I aquired my Canon 60D I’ve been able to trigger my flash remotely via Canon’s IR E-TTL flash system.

This was working OK for me as my only speedlight was a Canon 430exII which was fully compatible with that system. Since a single light can be a little limiting, I decided to order a pair of cheap YongNuo YN-560 speedlights off ebay. The problem with these is that they can’t be controlled via Canon’s E-TTL system so I need another way to fire them. I did some research and finally decided on the Cactus v5 wireless flash triggers. Thy seemed to me to be the best price/performance product on the market and with my testing so far, I’m extremely happy with them. I have not had a single misfire from them yet. Thanks to ebay I have also scored myself some cheap shoot-through umbrellas and some light stands. I’ll pretty much have everything right there to set up my own on-site studio shoots. Then the real learning can begin.

Testing...

When all my gear finally arrives I’ll probably do a proper writeup on it and how to use it.
